Festival of Transport at Broad Farm Hellingly.

We normally have members with entries in the Military vehicle and commercial vehicle sections. This year we plan to combine the SARS special event radio station GB3FOT with the military display..

Our Green Camp will have working radio stations using ex-military Clansman series equipment and probably other vintage sets from WWII and after. Listen out for our special event callsign on HF and VHF.

Members interested in helping with the displays and operating our special event station are invited to contact G8DXU or any other committee member.

West Dean English Heritage Open Days,

Our regular visit to the charming and Historic Village of West Dean.

SARS members and others put on a display of vintage radio equipment, with an emphasis on the Canadian occupation of the village during WWII.

We have the special event callsign GB2WD, look out for us on 40m or perhaps 3.615MHz AM on the WS19 MKIII.

All members are welcome to help with setting up and operating the station. Alternatively just give WD a visit and join one of the tours of this historic site. There will be some good on site catering plus stalls selling local arts and crafts. Harvey's Brewery are usually in attendance with quantities of their various products.

HF Field Day

Many of the team will be at West Dean and unable to participate in the 144MHz or HF Field Day events.  Any members interested in organising participation in these activities are asked to contact the committee.

We will be operating special callsign GB2WD from West Dean during the weekend.

There are other English Heritage sites, such as the Stone Cross Windmill where SARS members will be operating special stations during the  Weekend. It is hoped that GB2WD will establish communications with some of these stations.

70MHz AFS Contest,

This is the first in this seasons series of AFS contests and a new event on the 70MHz band. These AFS contests all contribute to the societies position in the Super League.

Contest runs from 0900-1200 UTC     1000-1300 Local time

It is intended to operate G1KAR/P  from our Beachy Head site. We need members who are skilled in contest operating to assist with this entry. Please contact G8DXU if you are interested in helping.

Beachy Head Meeting,

Due to a change of plans G8DXU will be opening BHRS today.

The site will be open from 1200 until around 1700 local time. It is intended to make some a 400W 6m linear amp available plus IC-7300 for operations on the 50MHz band.

Members are invited to attend and try operation on 6m SSB if they so desire, this band can offer some exciting DX under favourable conditions. Alternatively just come along for free refreshments and a social occasion.

As the weather is good I will be firing up the BBQ around 1300, there will be some free 95% Pork sausages for the first members visiting. If you wish to join the BBQ contributions of food of your own choice would be very welcome.
