Sat 12th Nov 2022

160 metre Club Calls contest from 2000-2300

Members should be at Beachy Head Site for this event, which is possibly one of the best competitions on this band. Whilst the band is often quite subdued it really comes alive during the competition. Stations can be heard and contacted all over most of the country, even using less than 32 Watts pep.

Contrary to popular opinion, stations do not need a long aerial. Properly tuned whip aerials only a couple of metres long can and do work very well, especially from mobile installations. Good earth connections or a counterpoise can make a considerable enhancement on signals.
