It has been proposed that we tentatively resume our meetings at BHRS on a Wednesday afternoons. Numbers in the building would currently be limited to six, although more can gather outside in the site compound. This will obviously depend upon favorable weather conditions.

These could be from 1300 local time. Some members may choose to meet at the cafe beforehand.

    Sat 5th Jun 2021 Sun 6th Jun 2021

The 6th of June marks the 77th anniversary of the D-Day landings at Normandy.

SARS has use of special event callsign GB2SF we can use this from our station at Beachy Head to commemorate the occasion and the importance of the DECCA navigation beacon (C slave station) established nearby.

Interested members should look at Forum where there is a thread giving details and inviting ideas and comments about arrangements for the proposed weekend.  Whilst there are a couple of volunteers we are now rapidly running out of time to organize anything special!

    Sun 13th Jun 2021

The Practical Wireless Low Power contest is a new contest for most current SARS members and it was considered that it may be prudent to make an entry.

Several members will gather at BHRS to enter the contest, which runs from 0900-1600 UTC.

Please have a listen and consider giving G1KAR/P a call. We will mainly be active on USB but will also put out calls on working channels in the FM section of the band.

Several members are planning to field an entry in this event from BHRS. This will probably be in the 24hr section and running full legal power into olur five element beam.

This is the start of the Sporadic E season and if we are fortunate, we may see some openings to europe or even further. This alone can make this contest very entertaining.

    Social contact

By Step 4 which will take place no earlier than 21 June, the government hopes to be in a position to remove all legal limits on social contact.

    Business, activities and events

We hope to reopen remaining premises, including nightclubs, and ease the restrictions on large events and performances that apply in Step 3. This will be subject to the results of a scientific Events Research Programme to test the outcome of certain pilot events through the spring and summer, where we will trial the use of testing and other techniques to cut the risk of infection. The same Events Research Programme will guide decisions on whether all limits can be removed on weddings and other life events.

"As we move through each of these phases in the roadmap, we must all remember that COVID-19 remains a part of our lives. We are going to have to keep living our lives differently to keep ourselves and others safe. We must carry on with ‘hands, face, space’. Comply with the COVID-Secure measures that remain in place. Meet outdoors when we can and keep letting fresh air in. Get tested when needed. Get vaccinated when offered. If we all continue to play our part, we will be that bit closer to a future that is more familiar."

There is interest in this event from a couple of members, with the societies 7300 will being available.

It would be good to make an entry in what is the last in this current series. Even modest scores can put the society at a respectable place in the results table.
